ABOUT THE INSTITUTE


Short History

ESPI Institute continues the work of the G17 Institute, which was established in 2001 to continue and broaden the academic, educational and research activities of the Group 17. The Group 17, initiated in 1996 and led by Mlađan Dinkić, gathered 17 distinguished independent economists who, through their project, educational and public activity, aimed at revealing the destructive consequences of the regime during 90's, and at promoting the ideas of market economy, and good and democratic governance.

DEPARTMENTS


Department Of Macroeconomics

Conducts research and provides timely and unbiased analyses and forecasts of macroeconomic trends. The results of these analyses are regularly published in the ESPI Economic Review.

Department Of Social Policy And Human Capital Development

Studies and analyzes the development of human resources (educational system and labour market) and social policy issues (social insurance, social welfare, unemployment and poverty) in Serbia.

Department Of European Studies

Monitors and supports Serbia’s advancement on its path to the EU; conducts capacity building for various target groups (including government officials, members of parliament, journalists, etc) preparing them for integration into the EU; publishes and translates books on EU issues.

Department Of Institutional And Legal Reforms

Studies the comparative institutional reform experiences (particularly of successful transition countries) and reform processes in economic, legal and political institutions that are of critical importance for democracy, market economy and the rule of law in Serbia.

Education Center

Organizes seminars, workshops, schools, round tables and conferences in order to foster an expert debate or ensure better understanding of transition and its major issues. Majority of its activities pertain to the above-mentioned areas of concentration and are done in cooperation with the Institute’s departments.
